In solidarity with Crimean Tatar people Crimean Linden trees planted in Riga
Within the framework of events in Riga on occasion on the 75th anniversary of deportation of Crimean Tatar people Crimean Linden trees were planted in Riga at the Kronvalda park near the Taras Shevchenko monument.
The Dendrologist Association of Latvia has announced the Crimean Linden the tree of 2019 year in solidarity with Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar people, who suffer from the Russian aggression.
Three trees 4 m high and 50 kg each will grow into one tree, symbolizing the unification of Ukraine in its internationally recognized borders.
The trees were planted by Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Olexandr Misсhenko, Chairman of Crimean Tatar Mejlis Refat Chubarov and Vice Speaker of the Saeima Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla, the ceremony was attended by Ukrainian and Latvian community, media.
At the end the big Crimean Tatar Flag was unfolded, which is travelling around the world and was in Riga on that day within the framework of international campaign “United by the flag - #LIBERATECRIMEA”.
