Foreigners/stateless persons staying in Ukraine upon their visas may apply for the extension of their stay while in Ukraine through Ukraine’s State Migration Service local offices. The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Latvia is authorized to assist in the following matters related to civil status documents:
Request duplicates of civil status documents (e.g., birth certificates) from Civil Registration Offices in Ukraine (Note: This process may take up to six months, depending on the specific authority in Ukraine).
Issue duplicates of civil status documents, where applicable (Note: This service is currently available only to Ukrainian citizens).

In accordance with the bilateral agreement between Ukraine and Latvia on mutual legal assistance in civil matters, these offices may assist in obtaining a Ukrainian birth certificate with an apostille.
This approach is often faster and more efficient than through diplomatic channels.
