Please check whether you need a visa to enter Ukraine here.

Please follow this link to see information on supporting documents and visa application procedure.

Your passport / travel document should comply with the following requirements:

  • be valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from Ukraine;
  • have at least 2 pages free from any visas/marks/stamps;
  • be issued for no more than 10 years.

Please visit the MFA e-Visa webpage for eligible countries and e-Visa application process. More details on e-Visa application procedure can be found at the Help section of the MFA e-Visa website.

Ukraine’s visas cannot be extended. Foreigners/stateless persons staying in Ukraine upon their visas may apply for the extension of their stay while in Ukraine through Ukraine’s State Migration Service local offices. Please see Ukraine’s State Migration Service website for more information on the procedure.

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Latvia is authorized to assist in the following matters related to civil status documents:

  1. Request duplicates of civil status documents (e.g., birth certificates) from Civil Registration Offices in Ukraine (Note: This process may take up to six months, depending on the specific authority in Ukraine).
  2. Issue duplicates of civil status documents, where applicable (Note: This service is currently available only to Ukrainian citizens).

To initiate either of the above procedures, please register for consular services via the following link:
👉 Online Registration: https://latvia.mfa.gov.ua/kp/online

Processing times may vary depending on the issuing authority in Ukraine. We therefore recommend submitting your application well in advance.

Detailed information on the procedures, required documents, and estimated timelines can be found at the following links:

👉 Re-issuance of Civil Status Certificates: https://latvia.mfa.gov.ua/konsulski-pitannya/vitrebuvannya-dokumentiv

Important: Consular services are provided by appointment only via the online registration system. Walk-in visits are not accepted.

As an alternative, you may authorize a third party in Ukraine to act on your behalf. To do so, a power of attorney (PoA) must be:

  • Notarized by a sworn notary public in Latvia
  • Translated into Ukrainian
  • Legalized by apostille

👉A list of sworn notaries in Latvia is available at Latvian Council of Sworn Notaries: https://www.latvijasnotars.lv/

Another option we recommend is contacting the local Civil Registry Office in Latvia (Pilsonības un migrācijas lietu pārvalde).
In accordance with the bilateral agreement between Ukraine and Latvia on mutual legal assistance in civil matters, these offices may assist in obtaining a Ukrainian birth certificate with an apostille.
This approach is often faster and more efficient than through diplomatic channels.
