Charge d’Affaires a.i. of Ukraine in Latvia Andrii Kozlov met with Minister for the Interior of the Republic of Latvia Rihards Kozlovskis.
The parties to the meeting discussed preparations for the Joint EU – Eastern Partnership Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Meeting to be held in Riga on January 29 within the framework of the Latvian Presidency in the Council of the EU.
The Latvian side noted the importance of tackling during the Ministerial Meeting the fight against terrorism, which is a common challenge for the whole European region, as well as discussing Ukraine’s implementation of reforms under the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, including in the law enforcement domain.
The Ukrainian diplomat thanked Latvia for its consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the help in the treatment of Ukrainian servicemen, wounded in the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine.
According to Minister Kozlovskis, in addition to the already rendered humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian Army and displaced persons, in the near future the Latvian Government will approve additional humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
