Ukraine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Latvia Yevgen Perebyinis presented the letters of credence to President Andris Berzins of the Republic of Latvia.
During the meeting the Ambassador thanked the President for Latvia’s consecutive support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the circumstances of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as for the assistance in treatment of Ukrainian servicemen, injured during anti-terrorist operation in Donbas. Yevgen Perebyinis highly assessed the efforts of Latvia as country holding the Presidency of the EU in facilitation of relations between Ukraine and the European Union, in particular in the context of preparations for the Riga Summit.
On his part the President of Latvia stressed on the importance of further development of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine, including in terms of fostering a visa free dialogue and the completion of the ratification of the Association Agreement and its coming into effect, as well as the free trade area.
The parties also discussed other issues of Latvian- Ukrainian relations, in particular in the trade and economic domain and energy-related matters.
