Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Yevgen Perebyinis met with Minister for Defence of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Bergmanis, having discussed the state and prospects for the enlargement of the Ukrainian – Latvian bilateral cooperation in the military and military and technical sphere.
The parties, in particular, exchanged views about realization of bilateral projects of Ukrainian Army officers studying in Latvian colleges, the participation of military units and experts from Ukraine and Latvia in multinational exercises in both countries, the use of the Latvian experience in the reformation of the Armed Forces with a view of their adjustment to NATO standards. The meeting also focused on prospects of enlarging the relevant bilateral treaty-legal basis.
The Defence Minister reassured the Ambassador of invariable support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and reiterated readiness to continue the necessary assistance to Ukraine. In particular, the Latvian party informed about its intention to extend the program of treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen, wounded in ATO, in Latvian medical centers.
