5 – 6 November Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk was in Riga on a working visit to the Republic of Latvia at the invitation of his Latvian counterpart Laimdota Straujuma.
On November 5, in the framework of the visit heads of government of the Baltic states and Ukraine Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Prime Minister of Latvia Laimdota Straujuma, Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius and Prime Minister of the Estonia Taavi Rõivas had the first joint meeting in the history of foreign relations.
The agenda of the visit included negotiations of Arseniy Yatsenyuk with head of Latvian government Laimdota Straujuma. The Prime Minister of Ukraine also met with President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Inara Mūrniece.
The Head of Ukraine’s Government participated in the 10th annual Riga conference – a prestigious international forum which this year focused on the EU's geoeconomic role.
Apart from that, Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, paid a visit to the NATO Strategic Communications Centre and a famous Riga Ukrainian secondary school.
Within the framework of the visit the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Latvia open a monument to Taras Shevchenko in Riga.
