On November 24-27 a delegation of Ukrainian Deputy Ministers for European Integration, chaired by Director of the Government Office for European Integration Nataliya Hnydiuk, visited Riga with a view of learning Latvia’s experience in reformation of public administration and economic development, obtained on Latvia’s way to the EU.
On November 25 the Ukrainian delegation was briefed about the mechanisms of public engagement and openness of the legislative process in Latvia’s public administration at the MFA and the Cabinet of Ministers. The program also provided sessions on Latvian experience in anticorruption, financial and media policies. The delegation met with officials and experts from line ministries, social partners, NGOs and academics.
The delegation was representing the Ministries of justice (Serhiy Petukhov), social policies (Serhiy Ustymenko), regional development (Demian Pastukh), youth and sports (Mykola Movchan), natural environment protection (Hanna Vronska), agriculture (Vladyslava Rutytska), infrastructure (Oksana Reiter) and information policies (Tetiana Popova). The Administration of the President of Ukraine was represented by Chief of European Integration Department Serhiy Leschenko.
The visit has been organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Repaublic of Latvia following the recent agreements between chief of Ukrainian and Latvian states within the framework of Cooperation for Development Program.
