The Minister congratulated Ukraine on the positive progress report of the European Commission, adding that Latvia  highly appreciates the efforts of Ukraine to meet the necessary criteria with a view of introduction of visa-free travels for Ukrainian citizens. He reassured of the Interior Ministry’s closely monitoring the progress of Ukraine and seeing no obstacles for passing a positive decision soon. The Latvian side at all levels, including at the Justice and Home Affairs Council, supports the adoption of the positive decision. He added that Latvia is ready to further assist Ukraine in adaptation of relevant standards to the EU norms.
