On October 27 Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsandze began her working visit to the Republic of Latvia with the purpose of participation in the Riga Conference 2016.
Today, the Vice Prime Minister met with Director of the State Chancellery Mārtiņš Krieviņš, who dwelt about results of his recent visit to Kyiv with a capacity building study visit in order to share Latvia’s experience of public administration reforms. The parties exchanged opinions on priorities and challenges of reforms and discussed in detail one of the most relevant topic for Ukraine – the launch of state secretaries’ institute, which has been successfully functioning in Latvia.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsandze visited the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence and met with its director Jānis Sārts. The meeting mainly dealt with the problem of Russian propaganda in Ukraine and Latvia. The parties agreed to unite efforts and share experience. Director Sārts toured the Vice Prime Minister around the center and told about its main activities.
The issue of restoring the work of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Latvian commission on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation was discussed at the meeting of Vice Prime Minister with her Latvian counterpart, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister for Economics, Arvils Ašeradens. Both agreed to hold the next meeting of the commission in Kyiv on December 12-13, 2016. The Vice Prime Ministers exchanged views on ways to step up trade and economic cooperation between the countries and the contributing role of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the EU.
