On 12-13 December Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy visited Latvia and held negotiations with Saeima Speaker Ināra Mūrniece, members of the Latvian parliament and President Raimonds Vējonis.
The meetings proved strong support by Latvia of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, reform progress and European integration. The Ukrainian speaker briefed his Latvian interlocutors about the ongoing Russian aggression and Ukraine’s moves to deescalate the situation and implement reforms.
Andriy Parubiy toured the exposition of the Latvia Occupation Museum and laid flowers to the Freedom Monument together with Ināra Mūrniece. Later on the day the Ukrainian official also honored the memory of Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko at his monument in Riga.
