On 9 May Latvia, as well as the whole Europe, celebrated the Europe Day.
Traditionally on this day youth is in focus – they are invited to learn, discuss and share their ideas about European Union and its prospects. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia in cooperation with partners – Riga accredited EU and Eastern partnership embassies, the Delegation of the European Commission to Latvia – held the Open Doors Day.
The Embassy of Ukraine joined the initiative and opened its doors to schoolchildren of the Riga Special Secondary School and the Salaspils Secondary School No2. Traditionally the partner of Ukraine on this day were pupils of the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School, who made an information presentation about Ukraine in the Latvian language and performed a concert of Ukrainian modern and folk music. The Embassy treated the guests with Ukrainian cuisine.
This year the EU marked its 68th anniversary.
