On 17 May Riga traditionally hosted mass celebration of the Vyshyvanka Day, attended by the Ukrainian community of Latvia and Latvian friends of Ukraine.

The celebrations started with the march from central Riga to the Monument of Taras Shevchenko in the Kronvalda Park, flower laying and anthem singing.
Afterwards the Embassy of Ukraine hosted a master-class of embroidery as an element of the world action «My Embroidered Ukraine», organized by skillful crafters of the Guild of People’s Crafters “Perlyna”. Everybody willing had an opportunity to make their own stitches at the embroidered map of Ukraine.

Lviv and Ternopil crafters also brought their best crafts: embroidered towels, shirts (Vyshyvankas), dolls etc.

On the occasion of the Vyshyvanka Day the Embassy of Ukraine also hosted the photo exhibition of a talented photograph Kseniya Fetisova, devoted to the Ukrainian people of different ages and from different regions of Ukraine wearing Vyshyvankas.
The Embassy is grateful to Ukrainian organizations in Latvia, who co-hosted the celebration:
