On 5 October on occasion of the Centenary of rebirth of Ukrainian statehood and in celebrating the Day of Teacher the Ukrainian Embassy held the reception and awarding ceremony in order to commend the important contribution of the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School in teaching the Ukrainian language, preserving and promoting Ukrainian culture, literature and traditions in Latvia.
On behalf of the Embassy of Ukraine teachers were presented with rewards for their weighty contribution in the study of the Ukrainian language, preservation and promotion of Ukrainian culture, literature and traditions in Latvia.
Her greetings to the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School on Teacher’s Day were sent by Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliia Hrynevych, who underlined the role of the school as an important cultural and education center for the Ukrainian community in Latvia and efforts in maintaining cultural exchanges, integration of the Ukrainian diaspora into the European community.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Charge d’Affaires a.i. Alisa Podolyak presented the teachers with ministerial rewards.
Upon the invitation of the Embassy of Ukraine Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia Kārlis Šadurskis attended the event and thanked the teachers for their tireless work and highlighted their successful activities to teach Ukrainian and Latvian children, as well as efficient cooperation among the two countries’ Ministries and the Embassy of Ukraine to support the school.
In 2018 the Embassy of Ukraine provided financial support to the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School within the budgetary program 1401110 “Financial support for international image of Ukraine, activities of the Ukrainian Institute, ties with Ukrainians living abroad”.
