On 15 February Charge d’Affaires a.i. Alisa Podolyak met with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima of Latvia Rihards Kols.
During the meeting the Head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission informed the Latvian member of parliament about the ongoing Russian aggression, violation by Russia of human rights on the temporarily occupied territories in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. In the context of the 5th anniversary of the start of the Russian Aggression the sides discussed moves of the international community aimed at non-recognition policy and de-occupation of the peninsula.
The Ukrainian diplomat thanked Latvia for the strong support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and the resolute role of the Latvian parliament in condemning the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Rihards Kols confirmed the resoluteness of the Latvian parliament to further develop interparliamentary cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, including within the parliamentary assemblies of international organizations.
