On May 13, 2019, in the context of preparing a visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze to Latvia aimed at conducting the 7th Session of the Ukrainian-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (the IGC, Riga, May 16-17, 2019), Ambassador of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko met with Minister for Economics of Latvia Ralfs Nemiro.
The state and prospects of the Ukrainian-Latvian trade and economic alongside investment cooperation, as well as matters related to the 7th IGC Session were discussed by the sides during the meeting.

The interlocutors highlighted a significant advancement of import and export activity and a positive outlook for developing the trade turnover following an increase of its volume on the results of 2018 totalling USD 549.7 million. The main focus centred upon the priority sectors – agriculture, transport, banking and other strategic areas of mutual interest.
The key aspects of the developments in both Ukraine and Latvia were also discussed. In particular, the Latvian side confirmed its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, the condemnation of ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, the non-recognition by Latvia of the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and the need to extend international sanctions against the Russian Federation.
