On 31 May 2011 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia Mr. Anatoliy Oliynyk held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Mr. Ģirts Valdis Kristovskis.
Among the main topics of the meeting were the perspectives of developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia. Special attention was devoted to the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of President of Ukraine Mr. Viktor Yanukovych to Latvia in December 2010. In this context the sides emphasized the importance of broadening contacts between the Foreign Offices of both States, holding the consultations on European integration issues and further continuation of the cooperation on the issues of international agenda.
Ambassador of Ukraine and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia were unanimous in the decision that the results of the forth session of Ukraine-Latvia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical cooperation, planned for June 2011, would contribute to further development of mutually beneficial cooperation and deepening ties between the businessmen of both States.
At the end of the meeting Anatoliy Oliynyk expressed gratitude to the Latvian State for taking care of ethnic Ukrainians who live in Latvia.
