On April 19, 2011 Charge d’Affairs of Ukraine in Latvia Oleksandr Kushnir visited the city of Vangazhi.

During the visit O. Kushnir held a meeting with Head of Ichunkalns Region Council Mr. Ārvids Blaus. The parties discussed the perspectives of deepening economic and business interregional cooperation. In this context Ukrainian Side handed over some business proposals of prominent Ukrainian companies.

During the meeting special attention was given to the support of Ukrainian community of Vangazhi, for instance, the cultural events, organized by Ukrainian organization  «Jatran». O. Kushnir expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of the region for unfailing support of Ukrainians, and briefed on the steps of Ukraine in this context.

Within the framework of the visit, a solemn opening of the exhibition of works of Ukrainian embroidery of Anzhelika Rudnytska took place in Vangazhi culture center. Greeting the guests of the event, Charge d’Affairs of Ukraine in Latvia O.Kushnir mentioned that the exhibition already visited many Latvian cities: Riga, Daugavpils, Jelgava. Latvian community could get better acquainted with Ukrainian culture.

In response the leadership of Ukrainian organization  «Jatran»  expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Anzhelika Rudnytska for popularizing of Ukrainian modern art and preserving cultural ties of Ukrainian community in Latvia with Motherland.
