On February 2, 2011 Charge d’Affairs of Ukraine in Latvia O. Kushnir visited the city of Jelgava.
During the visit O.Kushnir held a meeting with Head of Jelgava city Council Mr. A. Rāviņš. The parties discussed the perspectives of deepening cultural, economic and business interregional cooperation, e.g. between sister cities – Ivanofrankivsk and Jelgava.
Latvian Side was also informed on internal situation in Ukraine, our states achievements on judicial reform, holding of the European Football Championship in 2012 and on international arena.
Within the framework of the visit, a solemn opening of the exhibition of works of Ukrainian artist Anzhelika Rudnytska took place in G.Elias Museum of Jelgava.
Greeting the guests of the event, Charge d’Affairs of Ukraine in Latvia O.Kushnir mentioned: «The exhibition visited many countries of the world, and today Latvian public also has the opportunity to get more acquainted with Ukrainian culture, traditions and beliefs».
More than 45 works, created in a unique technique of «embroidery painting», are presented at the exhibition.
Representatives of official, cultural and business circles, as well as of Latvia intelligentsia and Ukrainian diaspora took part in the opening of the exhibition. The event was widely covered by local mass-media.
