The Latvian Parliament Speaker expressed support for territorial integrity of Ukraine and solidarity of Latvia in Ukraine’s fighting against Russian aggression. She highly assessed the outcomes of the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit, having positively remarked the signals of its Joint Declaration.

The parties came to a conclusion that Russia and Russia-backed terrorists do not demonstrate their readiness to comply with the Minsk agreements and there are no grounds today to speak about the possibility of revoking or softening EU sanctions against Russia.

Ambassador Perebyinis noted the high level of parliamentary support of Ukraine on behalf of Latvia, in particular the activities of the Ukrainian – Latvian friendship group that accounts for almost one third of the composition of the Latvian Parliament.

The parties also discussed preparations for a charity concert “War Children” to be held under the initiative of Speaker Inara Murniece on July 6 at the Dzintari concert hall in Jurmala. The concert is aimed at raising funds for rehabilitation in Latvia of Ukrainian children that suffered from hostilities in the East of Ukraine.
