During his working visit to the city of Liepaja on August 5, Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Yevgen Perebyinis visited the port of Liepaja and the city’s industrial parks, he also met with Liepaja City Council Chairman and local business.
The first regional trip of the Ambassador was aimed at familiarizing himself with the city’s business, prospects for establishing regional cooperation with Ukrainian partners and investment opportunities of the Kurzeme region. The Ambassador also visited Liepajas Metallurgs, purchased past year by a Ukraine investor.
During his meeting with the City Council Chairman Uldis Sesks the parties discussed prospects for establishing twin city relations with one of Ukraine’s cities, opportunities for facilitation of Ukrainian-Latvian business contacts, first of all in the transportation sphere.
Ambassador Perebyinis thanked the city leaders for humanitarian aid by the municipality and by non-governmental organizations of Liepaja to the Ukrainian Army, as well as for rehabilitation of Ukrainian children, who suffered from the Russian Aggression in the East of Ukraine. He stressed that Latvia is an important partner of Ukraine, whose support was always sizeable – either during the peaceful time, or during the painful time of Russian aggression against out nation.
