On April 6 Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Yevgen Perebyinis met with Minister for Transport of the Republic of Latvia Uldis Augulis.
During the meeting the parties discussed the state and dynamics of Ukrainian - Latvian relations in the transportation sphere, the prospects for the growth of cargo transportations and the promising use of the transport corridor between the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea. The Ukrainian side stressed that the transport and transit sphere was important for the development of the Ukrainian - Latvian economic relations and its coordination needed to be constanly monitored by the parties.
On its part the Latvian Minister expressed his readiness to extend cooperation in the transportation and, taking into account Russia's sanctions, stressed the need to deversify cargo routes. The Minister aired his hope to soonest possible completion of negotiations on stand parking during the night at the Boryspil Airport for AirBaltic company. He also suggested more advertisement of the container train ZUBR among Ukrainian and Latvian entrepreneuers in order to increase cargo turnover.
