On April 7, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia Yevgen Perebyinis met Latvian Minister for Defence of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Bergmanis.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current situation at ATO zone in the eastern Ukraine the state and dynamics of Ukrainian - Latvian relations in the defence sphere. The Latvian party was informed about Ukrainian losses suffered from the armed conflict in Donbass region, about the reformation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and about the prospects for the growth of cooperation in the defence industry sphere. In addition, Ambassador expressed gratitude for the medical treatment given by Latvian doctors to Ukrainian solders` wounded at ATO zone and trainings provided by Latvian military experts to the Ukrainian Armed Forces
On its part the Latvian Minister expressed his readiness to extend cooperation in the defence sphere and to support Ukrainian aspiration for NATO membership.
