On October 28 the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsitsadze within the framework of her working visit to Riga met with Prime Minister of Latvia Maris Kučinskis.

The parties discussed trade and economic cooperation and spoke up for its further facilitation. The Latvian Prime Minister remarked positive trends of economic situation stabilization in Ukraine and reiterated his support for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and Latvia’s readiness to continue the necessary assistance in combating external aggression.

Maris Kučinskis also emphasized that Ukraine had fulfilled all the necessary criteria for gaining the visa-free regime with the EU for its citizens and the soonest possible adoption of the positive decision was the case of honor for the EU.

The two officials also discussed the issue of the finalization of the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the context of adverse consequences of the Dutch referendum. According to the Latvian Prime Minister, non-ratification of the Agreement would mean the betrayal of Ukraine and the decision should be found. He promised Latvia’s comprehensive support in the issue.
