On 29 March 2012, the University of Latvia hosted the round table discussion “EU – Canada – Baltic States – Eastern Partnership”, organized by the Government of Canada in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.
In his address to the participants of the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Mr. Anatoliy Oliynyk expressed gratitude to European partners for supporting European integration aspirations of our State and informed about Ukraine’s achievements on the path of implementing reforms. Anatoliy Oliynyk stressed the importance of conclusion of the Association Agreement that will become a comprehensive instrument of modernization of all spheres of life in Ukraine, including democratic consolidation and rule of law.
The Ambassador also underlined the importance of the future Eastern Partnership Roadmap for implementing the key goals of the Initiative, for instance, in the context of the visa regime liberalization, informed about Ukraine’s contribution to drafting this important document.
Representatives of the foreign offices of Latvia, Canada, Poland, Moldova and Georgia, diplomatic corps, accredited in Riga, faculties of the University of Latvia and higher education establishments of Lithuania, Canada, Estonia and Ukraine took part in the round table discussion. The representatives of Latvian mass-media attended the event.
