On 2 May Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Olexandr Mischenko met with Under-Secretary of State, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Jānis Mažeiks, who underlined Latvia’s support for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, unwavering non-recognition policy of illegal annexation of Crimea.
As it was noted, since 2014 Ukraine has been a priority country in the development cooperation program and Latvia is ready to further provide its expertise in different domains and continue medical rehabilitation.
The Political director called the decree of the Russian president on simplified citizenship procedure for Ukrainian citizens in the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions as another step of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The parties discussed trade and economic relations and in that connection noted that holding the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific and Technical Cooperation in May will foster new forms of economic cooperation.
