A presentation of the photo exhibition “The Face of the Border” was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Latvia in cooperation with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine . The exhibition is dedicated to the servicemen and servicewomen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who stand guard over Ukraine’s state border every day and, as part of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, repel Russia’s armed aggression.

The exhibition was presented to Ukrainian youth living and studying in Latvia by a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the stories of Ukrainian border guards, gain insight into the specifics of their service, their combat experience, and the role of the State Border Guard Service in safeguarding Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.

The event at the Embassy followed the exhibition’s presentation in Latvia during the international conference Riga StratCom Dialogue 2026. Showcasing the project in Latvia provides another opportunity to familiarize international audiences with the stories of Ukrainian border guards who have been defending Ukraine since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, while also drawing attention to their contribution to strengthening security and protecting democratic values in Europe.

Through photographs and personal stories, the exhibition reveals the resilience, courage, self-sacrifice, professionalism, and humanity of those who stand on the front line of the struggle for freedom. Each photograph bears witness to the determination of people who, despite the hardships of war, continue to protect their country and its citizens. The exhibition helps convey the truth about the Ukrainian people’s fight for freedom and independence and serves as a reminder of the importance of continued international support for Ukraine.

Launched in Ukraine, the “The Face of the Border” photo exhibition continues its international mission of telling the world the truth about Ukrainian defenders, their struggle, and the price of freedom. 

For Ukraine, the border today is not merely a state boundary, but a real frontier between freedom and aggression, between democratic values and attempts to destroy them.
