On 9 June, in Tallinn, on the margins of the Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia Andris Kulbergs.
During the talks, the parties discussed the further development of the Ukraine–Latvia partnership, strengthening defence cooperation, support for Ukraine in countering Russia’s aggression, as well as current regional security issues.
Following the meeting, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Latvia signed the Drone Deal, an agreement on cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies. The document is aimed at enhancing the defence capabilities of Ukraine and Latvia, developing joint production, exchanging technologies, expertise and knowledge, and deepening cooperation in the areas of air and missile defence.
Particular attention was paid to Ukraine’s air defence needs and Latvia’s continued support in this area. The parties also discussed increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, including the need to introduce additional restrictive measures against Russia’s shadow fleet.
