On May 5, 2011 presentation of the book «Approaching Latvia» by former Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Raul Chilachava took place in Academy of Science of Latvia.

Talking about the book, Raul Chilachava said that it consist of three parts. The first contains information on his diplomatic work in Latvia. The second part, titled «From union to union, from bloc to bloc», embraces thoughts of prominent Latvia politicians, sceitists, businessmen and representatives of intelligentsia on the achievements and drawbacks of Latvia during the past 20 years of its independence. The third part talks about present work of Raul Chilachava after his return to Ukraine.

Greeting the author, Chargé d’Affairs of Ukraine to Latvia praised the high level of relations between Ukraine and Latvia that were fruitful, friendly and mutually respectful during all the period of independence of both states.

Representatives ministries and institutions of Latvian society, diplomatic missions, accredited in Riga, members of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, leadership and representatives of the Ukrainian community in Latvia, as well as local media took part in the event.
