On 30 September 2012, a singing event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Solomiya Krushelnytska and the 80th anniversary of Anatoliy Solovianenko, organized by the Union of Ukrainian Organizations of Latvia was held in Riga.
Speaking at the opening, Counsellour of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia Mr. Oleksandr Kushnir noted: “These are outstanding figures not only in the history of Ukrainian, but also world music culture. Due to them, the world learned much more about Ukraine, its spiritual wealth, and inexhaustible song treasures of the Ukrainian people. And thanks to the organizers of today's event the Latvian public can get closer acquaintance with the creative achievements of these brilliant performers”.
Pieces of the repertoire Solomiya Krushelnytska and Anatoliy Solovianenko were performed by opera singers Nelli Vonog-Ševčenko, Jelena Ševčenko-Gross, Diana Anča and Juriy Tutunnikov. Head of the Union of Ukrainian Communities of Latvia Ludmyla Belinceva held a presentation of life facts of these performers.
Representatives of Ukrainian community of Latvia, officials and media attended the event.
